New building wins at RIBA Regional Awards 2026
The College鈥檚 new River Room has won a Royal Institute of British Architects Regional (East) Award 2026, recognising notable architecture projects across the East of England.
The River Room was part of a wider programme of works at the College, which included re-roofing much of Old Court, improving step-free access to key spaces, upgrading heating and electrical systems, and creating a new caf茅 for the College community. Designed by Witherford Watson Mann, the project aimed to complement the College鈥檚 historic surroundings while introducing a contemporary new space. Working with several contractors, the team transformed areas of the College that had previously been little used.
The project had already received recognition shortly after opening, winning a Greater Cambridge Design and Construction Award in 2024. The RIBA Regional Award marks a further achievement for the scheme.
